As late as 1985, a similar set of cork gaskets (part number 698) was available from Player Piano Co., in Wichita, Kansas. However, in terms of the hole spacing, these die cut gaskets were not well made. Also, there were complaints about the sealing capability of the cork. (In the Standard tracker, the gaskets must be 99.9% air-tight.) As a result of these problems and the costs associated with making a new set of dies, the set was discontinued. The new gaskets are cut to exacting specifications with a laser cutter.
