Comments to MMD Postings - by Craig Brougher

This page was conceived to help those interested in rebuilding player pianos, and those concerned about having their player piano restored. There is a lot of material in the MMD archives regarding players and their restoration and maintenance. Not all of it is accurate. Of course, many of these letters are suggestions and tend to be incomplete.

I thought it to be a good service to offer a place where you could go to check up on recent articles you may be interested in, which deserved comment or further elaboration if needed. Nothing can be more misleading and disastrous than partial information, or omissions which would make the difference between a success and a failure. There is also wrong information from time to time which of course should be corrected, and this is initially why this page was begun. It allows me to do that, whereas the MMD did not allow anyone to directly refute wrong information, politely or otherwise. I thought you might like all the facts, not just a partial exposition.

You might say that we now have a "watchdog" site which carefully monitors what is being said in the MMD, and if crucial to the rebuilding, preservation, or quality of antique players, and if I can either add, condemn, or condone the article, then I will. The purpose is to keep this information correct. We are helping the MMD do what they will not do.

If you have questions, please further check the MMD archives to see if this subject has been addressed.
